Arnie (Raymond Arnold) Pope (76) passed away on June 1, 2014 at St. Michael’s Hospice in Burnaby, BC.

Born on Feb 24, 1938 in Hardisty, AB to Glen and Grace Pope, Arnie grew up in Edmonton. After high school and the reserves, Arnie served in the RCAF from 1956 – 1974. Then, he worked for multiple Airlines including Wardair, First Air, Canadian Regional and Air Canada until his retirement in 2003. Arnie married Merna Simpson in 1960 after meeting in Edmonton. They were partners in many life adventures for 54 years. Arnie was well known for his road trips, adventures around the countryside of Europe, US and Canada. Arnie was also very well known for his sense of humour and the stories he told of all his many adventures.

Arnie was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert (Bob) and 2 sons in infancy. He is survived by his wife Merna; his son Glen; his grandchildren Daniella and Jacob in BC; and his sisters Lorraine and Gwen in AB. Many other friends and family were blessed to have him in their lives. Those that he touched, across the country and south of the border, will always remember his generous spirit, kind heart and good conversations. He will be dearly missed.
